World AIDS Day at the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA)

Mark your calendar now for December 1, 2008!

This is the second program on World AIDS Day.  Your Reserved Seating ticket purchase is a guaranteed seat at the event and it tax-deductible less the value of the premiums given.  A receipt with your donation and the tax-deductible amount shown will be given to you that evening at the door.  Ushers will guide you to your Reserved Seats.

Why offer Reserved Seats?  Last year we had a line around the building for this event.  That crowd size was not expected and without tickets, there was no way to know.  Some people drove from Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange Counties to only be turned away at the door due to capacity limits.  But to make it fair for those with limited transportation or those in the underserved communities, the committee decided we need some controls by issuing "First Come, First Serve" tickets on the day of the event.  By selecting a few tickets

The Reserved Seating tickets come with:

  • 2009/10 World AIDS 18-Month Desktop Calendar

  • Resource Guide

  • 3D glasses

  •  "goody-bag".

This World AIDS Calendar is from the Project: Red Paint, World AIDS Art Competition, created by local middle and high school students and the public.  These amazing art pieces are the finalists selected from the University by the Sea public art showing.  The winner from each age group will be selected at this World AIDS Day event and receive a cash scholarship from JBrand Jeans and an equivalent amount to donate in their names to any HIV/AIDS non-profit organization in the world.

Act Up! Mix it Up!

Program #1

4:00pm to 7:00pm

So does one top themselves after last year's great public highly successful education event?

Do it again, bigger and better! Last year, the Foundation hosted the event for the first time, and it was a runaway success! A ten-fold increase in attendance required us to turn-away over 250 waiting in line to get into the event.

This year,  to keep the success going and still accommodate everyone, we have divided the program into two events and starting it earlier in the day. We expect to have the attendance double over last year, making this the largest event in Southern California.

Act up! Mix it Up! is Part 1 of the World AIDS Day program is in MoLAA's Sculpture Garden from 3:30pm to 8:00pm.

This portion is completely designed by student from Long Beach Unified School District, Cal State Long Beach and other youth programs.

This educational event is great for the family for ages 14 and above. Here is just some of the activities planned for Program #1:

  • Live music and entertainment
  • Mural Paintings
  • Interactive Art
  • Games and Activities
  • Give-a-ways and much more!

  • and more!
